Swimming the Channel took me about 12 weeks.  I wondered whether running it would be faster?

Since beginning of February I have covered, I calculate, 17 miles, with 3 runs of 1mile each, 3 of 2 miles, and 3 of slightly over 2miles. I therefore only have 5 more miles to cover, which I should be able to manage in the coming week, making a total run time of 7 weeks.

After Easter I'll have another go and see if I can cut that time down a bit more.

Btw when I say "run" I mean jogging, limping, ambling and shambling or whatever it takes. The main feature is that I am wearing trainers, jogging bottoms and listening to Swami, Kylie and ELO on my iPod.

Swimming has got to be a bit boring recently after the 22-mile "channel" swim.  Now I have gone back to jogging and am very happy that my leg injury of last year isn't bothering me any more. My formerly broken toe also is very quiet. And the ankle sprain which happened when a hockey ball slammed into me has also disappeared. So on alternate days for the last couple of weeks I have been running - at, I believe, about 4 miles an hour, so slightly outpacing the slower of the garden snails en route - around the block in the evening. Today I clocked up a whole 2.6 miles, without tripping up, falling flat on my face, or spraining/straining/breaking anything.

Yeeha!
